It was recently discovered that the government of Togo contracted with Global Specialty LLC last year. The terms of the contract listed below state that Global Specialty LLC will assist with improving Togo’s image among the international community with a campaign that is aimed at numerous digital platforms.

Global Specialty LLC’s website explains:

We specialize in developing business opportunities on the African continent through strategic lobbying, government relations, advising U.S.-based and global clients on strategy, policy, and risk mitigation with respect to conducting business operations and investments in Africa.

We bridge the gap between demand for capital and market entry strategies promoting private sector growth and development initiatives in Africa. To take advantage of this opportunity we have applied proven demonstrated expertise in the delivery of communication strategies, market entry strategies, operational plans, and risk management tools to enter the market.

The website states further: “Africa can benefit from the rapidly growing markets in Asia and stable markets in U.S. and Europe to achieve broad-based economic development. To do so, it must determine how to create an enabling environment for engaging more extensively in value-added production in the natural resource and other sectors and how to participate effectively in global supply chains.”

Nothing about their mission indicates that this is an organization which promotes democracy and better governance in Africa, which is what will really assist with Africa’s advancement. Instead, Global Specialty LLC presents a model for Africa’s development which relies on foreign markets. The particular problem that Togo is facing is that Togo is no longer viewed as having an “enabling environment” to attract the support that the government is looking for because the political unrest that Togo has been facing since 2017 has exposed Faure Gnassingbé and is making attracting investors more difficult.

Global Specialty LLC is essentially accepting blood money from the government of Togo to help cover up that government’s crimes. If Global Specialty LLC’s tagline that “Africa is our business” is true then it should be the business of Global Specialty LLC and any other firm that considers contracting with the Togolese government to do what is truly in the best interest of Africa, and not accept blood money from African leaders who kill and exploit their own people. Faure may want the rest of the world to forget what he has been doing to his own people, but each and every cent that Faure pays to Global Specialty LLC is stained with the blood of the Togolese people that Faure and his fathered have tortured and murdered. This is a fact that we will never forget.
