If you majored in African studies, I would expect a more scholarly or fact based critique from you, rather than an emotion based, ad hominem filled rant. I am familiar with your tactic as well. You talk around the points that I made in my atricle and then find away to center Westerners in this discussion. Even in discussions about Africa’s history, Europeans must be inserted as some sort of saviors. And then you accuse me of victimhood when you are the one trying to portray African people as passive victims that have no agency in our own history.

To claim Westerners have done more to stop slavery ignores people that fought and even died to end slavery like Nat Turner, Toussaint, Sam Sharpe, Bussa, Cuffy, Harriet Tubman and others. Even in Africa today there are activists like Biram Dah Abeid who have gone to jail to fight slavery. Where are the Western governments that are supporting Abeid and other anti-slavery activists in Africa? Are you even aware of these anti-slavery activists? The fact is that African people have done more to fight for our own freedom than Westerners have. I am not sure how saying this is victimhood currency. Victimhood currency is what you are trying to do by making Africans appear helpless.
